SIX FINAL EVALUATION

Our opening night for our teen production of Six began on Thursday 17th November, after showing it to high schools and primary schools on the Wednesday. For myself personally, I found these two shows really challenging, despite the overwhelming feelings of excitement to finally share what we have been working on with a live audience. I think this was mainly because I felt really unwell over the past few days leading up to opening night and by the time, we hit Thursday evening, I was struggling especially with singing. I found it difficult to hit the notes within my higher harmonies, particularly in Ex- Wives and Six and I feel I could have performed better in both of the Thursday shows. By Friday afternoon I had managed to feel better with some rest and some paracetamol and I am definitely more content with how both of Friday's shows went. Because, I was feeling

REHEARSAL 6

Our next rehearsal involved running through all of the numbers with particular moments of dialogue so we can begin to understand each cue and when to come in for that particular piece. Our main focus at the minute is understanding our specific harmonies enough that each three parts can be clearly heard in the numbers- especially Ex-Wives. For me personally, I have progressed with remembering the pitch of my harmony and knowing when to come in however I just need to ensure I don’t get confused while developing the dance aspect within the show and relax my singing. We then moved on to starting to rub through the ending of the show. We started with Six and then for the first time we tried to put the Megasix together before we had a complete run through of the show.

REHEARSAL 1

During this rehearsal, we mainly focused on our opening ensemble number for our production of SIX. Our first priority was to ensure we were all familiar with the three part harmony throughout the song- higher, middle and lower, mine personally being higher. The higher harmony definitley took myself some getting used to because of how confusing it can be with the lower harmonies going on around you and actually thinking about getting my voice in that top pitch. We also went through the little bits of choreography, that we had learnt in our dance lesson the previous day. However, we were yet to find out, who the wives were so you had to be strong enough with what you specifically are singing as we could have been placed next to someone with the complete opposite harmony. A personal strength from this lesson would be how I can successfully maintain my higher harmony during the chorus however i need to work on making sure i know the lyrics for while we are dancing.

REHEARSAL 5

During this lesson, Raven lead the warm up to the Year 12 PA class alongside our class. We started off with Haus of Holbein harmonies then followed with the choreography. We then ran through everything, ensuring we knew the harmonies for each song before we started and then the choreography. However we went through I Don’t Need Your Love (harmonies) for one of the first times and understanding what bits we sing as en ensemble alongside Catherine Parr however we don’t have any choreography for this piece yet.

REHEARSAL 4

Last lesson, we started off with Demi presenting her warmup to the class to get us already for each piece. We started off with Haus of Holbein, going over the choreography and each of our three part harmonies as it was the most recent dance we had completed. We then started in chronological order and ran through each piece with the choreography alongside the singing starting with Ex- Wives, then we moved on to No Way, Don't Lose Ur Head, Heart of Stone, Haus of Holbein, Get Down, All You Wanna Do, Six and We took a first look at the Mega Six. Personally, for me a specific target that I want to achieve by the end of next lesson would be to make sure I am still fully singing my higher harmonies confidently in each song while successfully completing the choreography within each piece. This target has been a strong one for the majority of us to ensure we are capable of doing both in time for the show.

REHEARSAL 3

During this lesson last Thursday, we had our warmup led by Kayleigh and then moved on to polishing the lyrics and harmonies in Haus of Holbein so we will get more comfortable singing it while we are rehearsing the choreography on Wednesday with Rob and Charlotte. We then went through the choreography we knew so far for this piece and kept reminding ourselves of each of our harmonies while dancing. Next, Lois decided it would be a good idea to record everything we had worked on so far. Ex Wives is the performance all of us are becoming really skilled at now, therefore we started with that and followed with the singing of No Way, Get Down, Heart of Stone, Haus of Holbein and Six. As an understudy of one of the queens it is vital, that I'm familiar with not just my harmonies but also, my singing in each of the numbers, where I'm supposed to.
